WELCOME VOLUNTEER!
It is hard to put into words how much we appreciate you for volunteering time and energy for the work of Liberty Thrift and Home Furnishings. The Lord led us into the thrift store business in August of 1998 and our growth has been overwhelming at times. The primary function of our store was and is to raise funds to support the mission and program of Liberty Ministries. In addition, it serves as an outlet for persons who wish to donate reusable clothing and items. The store also serves as a resource for persons wishing to purchase reasonably priced used clothing, furniture and a variety of items. In special circumstances, items are donated to needy recipients. Liberty Thrift and Home Furnishings is a retail operation that depends on donated merchandise. Liberty Ministries owns the business with a hired manager who is accountable to a Board appointed committee that oversees operations.
Your volunteering makes you a vital part of Liberty Ministries, a Christ-centered ministry to offenders in prison and on the street. The Ministry coordinates Bible studies and worship services at Montgomery County Correctional Facility and on a smaller scale at State Correctional Institution at Graterford. Liberty House, located in Schwenksville, is our Christian discipleship center. It is a six-month discipleship program; for men coming from prison. In the first two weeks of their residency they volunteer at Liberty Thrift and Home Furnishings and rotate on Saturdays. We enjoy working side by side with these men who are starting a new way of life. Your words, attitudes, and actions are an important model to the men who may be learning a new work ethic.
Liberty Thrift and Home Furnishings is a significant contributor to the operating budget of the Ministry. Without volunteers, we would be less of a support to the Ministry. We pray that you will enjoy your time with us and will recognize that you are one of the people the Apostle Paul referred to in Acts 20:35 as he quoted Jesus, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Giving of your time and energy is a tangible witness to the men coming out of prison and the community at large. Your attitudes, words and actions carry an important message to all of our customers and other helpers.
May God bless you richly as you serve Him in this Volunteer capacity at Liberty Thrift and Home Furnishings.
